Dear friends,

Again I find myself having to pull together an email after another political sh*t-storm...but... yet again these listings are it's full to the brim with local activism. Please take the time to scroll your way through and support where you can!

Our December  meeting is an important one - we'll be looking at the future of the local assembly so please pop by if you can. And any ideas, questions or offers of help, please email pplsassembly.brighton@gmail.com. (mailto:pplsassembly.brighton@gmail.com)

Brighton People's Assembly Against Austerity News
Next Organising meeting Wednesday 7 December 19:30 to 21:30 in the Stanmer Room @ The Brighthelm Centre.

At the December meeting we will be reviewing our aims and objectives and the future of the Brighton People’s Assembly Against Austerity in preparation for our Annual General Meeting (11 January 2017).

This discussion will be in the context of the current political environment locally, nationally and internationally.  We will consider what we realistically can achieve and the infrastructure we need in the Assembly to pragmatically meet the objectives we set ourselves – ‘ourselves’, absolutely meaning all who wish to participate in the Assembly.
At our last meeting we had a teach-in on refugees and migrants from a number of different local campaign groups including from Dr. Piera Anna Tomasi amd Thousand for 1000. Notes and details of all these campaigns will be up on our website soon.
Next Admin meeting:
November 29, 2016 6:00pm - 7:00pm @ Lord Nelson. Please come and join us if you'd like to help organise the next organising meetings and upcoming AGM.

Thousand 4 £1000: A community response to enforced homelessness among forced migrants

Sign up to give just £1 a month to help house someone in Brighton. Be one of the thousand people making #Space4All!

Around 6000 people a year come to the end of the asylum process and, usually for Kafkaesque legal reasons, cannot leave the country. Finding work, at that point, is a criminal activity and state support is withdrawn. The number of homeless people in that position in Brighton is in double digits. People are street homeless. You can help by being 1 of 1000 people who give as little as £1 a month. All of that money is used to cover the costs of making a home for someone made homeless for the non-crime of crossing borders. Please sign up on the campaign website here (http://host8.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f0d5f2b6177970f262f90260b&id=3c730a3d95&e=4baf77af89) .
