Subject: This is not a recession, it's a robbery (Southwark Commons)
Hi, it'd be great to see some of you at some of the events - if you've got suggestions for any of the discussions, films or stuff to read, please shout. I won't be sending out these alerts again, as I don't want to clog your inboxes but if you'd like me to add you to our Southwark Commons mailing list, please let me know.
The next Southwark Commons event, taking place on Wednesday 29thJanuary, 17:30 – 19:30 will be a film screening. We are pleased to be showing Southwark's own Artist Taxi Driver's 'This is not a recession, it's a robbery' in which Mark McGowan, aka Artist Taxi Driver, interviews a wide range of people, from MPs to radical activists, on a range of current issues. We will be showing half a film to start off with, to give us all a chance to talk through some of the issues raised in the film itself. The Feminist Library, located at 5 Westminster Bridge Road, are hosting the event and a contribution (of ₤2 or more) will be needed, to cover the costs of the use of space. If you are likely to come along, please join the Facebook event or let us know by email.
Here's what happened at the first reading group meeting.
We are still shaping the Southwark Commons programme, so if you would like to suggest a text for a reading group session, a film or a discussion topic, please get in touch as soon as possible.
