Action at Labour Party Conference ~ Sunday 27th September
10 – 11 am & from 12 30pm
Congregate on the sea-front opposite the Brighton Centre, Kings Road

Join us on the first day of the conference to demand that Labour do their job as the official opposition. A huge banner will be unfurled opposite the Brighton Centre: “48 Labour MPs voted against the Tory Welfare Bill: Thank you! 185 Labour MPs abstained. Call themselves Labour MPs? Have they completely forgotten who they represent?”
This will be accompanied by a reading of  names expressing solidarity with the MPs who voted against the bill and shaming those who abstained
With the election of Jeremy Corbyn as LP leader we have a real chance to make our voices heard. Make sure your voice is one of them!
National demonstration at Tory Party Conference, Manchester

The TUC has called a national demonstration against austerity and the attacks on trade unions. The demo will take place in Manchester, as the Tory Party conference begins. It will be followed by a week of events, called by the People's Assembly nationally - these are detailed on our website here.

NEXT Organising Meeting: Wed 7th October 7.30pm @ Brighthelm Centre

First Wednesday of every month is now set as our regular meeting. Topics up for discussion include:
  • update on the big event we are planning for February
  • planning an event on the worldwide refugee crisis and the links with austerity
  • what can we do to support and take part in the week of action on Climate Change in November?
  • space for new ideas
Minutes for the September meeting are here.
Our 8th Small Revolutions was a lovely success- incredible talents displayed by our performers and we also witnessed the first outing of Aunty Austerity's pub quiz. We raised £182.12.

Thank you to pub quiz creators Clare King & Becca Dyer and all the performers for sharing their incredible talents - Tracy Jane Sullivan (who even debuted her harp), Carl Walker and Broken Ears. To Michael James Parker for 'putting the gloss' on the night as one punter put it! To the Greys & Ben for being so hospitable. To Dani Ahrens for the political shout outs and Paul Stapleton for the artwork/publicity.
Tenant Resistance event
Thursday, 15 October
@ Friends Meeting House, Ship Street

Unaffordable rents, outrageous letting agents' fees, benefits squeezed - private tenants are under pressure from all sides in a housing market that is out of control. This event is a chance for private tenants to join forces and start to fight back.

There will be a showing of the film Si Se Puede, which documents the powerful eviction resistance movement in Barcelona, as well as plenty of space for discussion and action planning. Please bring a plate of food to share. Doors will be open from 6.30, the event will start promptly at 7.00.

Event supported by Brighton Tenants Union, Global Justice Now, the Living Rent Campaign and Brighton People's Assembly against Austerity.
