Bayer and Monsanto are hell-bent on creating a mega-corporation that would
control our entire food supply. And both companies have an army of lawyers and lobbyists working
hard to make this deal happen.
So, we want to even things up a bit. With your help, we’ll
launch a people-powered force of the best legal minds to go into every nook and
cranny and dig out all the dirty details.
We don’t have a huge amount of time, though – we know that Bayer and
Monsanto’s teams will be pushing hard to nail down a deal as soon as possible.
If these corporate thugs are allowed to join forces, it’ll mean disaster
for bees, farmers, and the entire planet. We can’t let it happen.
And they’re not expecting our people-powered legal team.
Once we have it in black and white from an independent legal analysts
that the merger is undermining competition law and representing a bad deal for
our farmers and the entire planet we can use this research to pressure
policy makers and anti-trust authorities.
It gives us even more credibility to stop Monsanto and Bayer from
creating a global food monopoly of dangerous pesticides and GMO seeds. We need to fight Bayer and Monsanto at their own game. We can’t
let their lobbyists and lawyers dictate the message to policy makers.
Monsanto and Co. already have disproportionately large access to
policymakers -- and it shows: policies on farm subsidies, labour laws,
patents and land use are all skewed in favour of the big agro-chemical giants.
The 570 million peasant families that actually feed the world lose out big time
from this deal. But with your help we can turn the tables and give a voice to those people
standing to lose out from this deal.
Thanks for all that you do,
Anne, and the team at SumOfUs
