1. Undercover Policing & Trade Unions Conference, London
November 16 @ 10:30 am - 5:30 pm
"The one-day event will increase understanding of the impact of political policing on trade unions and movements for social change since 1968. Over three thousand workers were blacklisted, over one thousand organisations were spied on by undercover police, and tens of thousands of citizens have files held on them by Special Branch. Bringing together trade unionists, activists and other campaigners, this conference will strengthen our campaign to ensure the forthcoming public inquiry is not a cover-up but exposes the truth of Britain's political secret police. It will strengthen our struggle for justice and the protection of human rights."

2. Stop Nato – December 2019
"NATO have announced plans for their next summit in London, December 2019. Many people have already begun to oppose the summit. We plan to use a diversity of tactics against it.
NATO has often used the term 'humanitarian interventions' top disguise the fact that it actually fights for the strategic, economic and political belief of the elite class within NATO member countries. Militarism and capitalism are part of the same global power structure. A critique and confrontation of capitalism is therefore an inseparable aspect of our anti-militarist stance."

3. 'Only Nonviolent Rebellion Can Now Stop Climate Breakdown And Social Collapse'

Co-founder of Extinction Rebellion, Roger Hallam, has written a booklet which outlines how the climate movements around the world need to come together in order to avert extinction of all life. It goes into detail on using nonviolent civil disobedience as well as other strategies and tactics to make real change happen. This event will launch the print copy of the booklet, which is also available to download for free from Roger's website. Please note: As Roger is currently under arrest, XR's Andrew Medhurst will be speaking and taking questions.

What is masculinity? Dominating the world around us, from Trump's twitter outbursts to deadly gun violence, from male suicide rates to incels on Reddit and 4chan, masculinity is perceived to be 'toxic', 'fragile' and 'in crisis'. In Mask Off, JJ Bola exposes masculinity as a performance that men are socially conditioned into. Using examples of non-Western cultural traditions, music and sport, he shines light on historical narratives around manhood, debunking popular myths along the way. 5. 'Queer Intentions: A (Personal) Journey Through LGBTQ + Culture' with Amelia Abraham

Combining intrepid journalism with her own personal experience, Amelia Abraham searches for answers to questions such as is same-sex marriage, improved media visibility and corporate endorsement all it's cracked up to be? At what cost does this acceptance come? And who is getting left behind, particularly in parts of the world where LGBTQ+ rights aren't so advanced?, as well as the broader question of what it means to be queer in 2019.

Guest contributors from the essay collection 'Building A New Catalonia' discuss the political strategies and aspirations of the anti-capitalist, feminist and socialist movement for self-determination in Catalonia.
7. 'Here to Stay, Here to Fight – A Race Today Anthology'

Editors of the book will be at Housmans to exploring the legacy of Race Today, the journal of the revolutionary Race Today Collective, in contemporary social movements and debates around race, gender and class, and to answer your questions.
8. 'Why I am a Pacifist' with Tim Gee
Wednesday November 6th, 7pm - tickets in advance from www.housmans.com/events
Tim Gee tells the story of why he became a pacifist and what it means to him. Gee reflects on the lives of peacemakers past and present to provide responses to questions like "Don't we have to hit back if we're hurt?", "Don't we need war to respond to evil?" and "Doesn't religion justify wars?". This is a critique of war, but more than that, it stakes a claim for pacifism's feminist and anti-racist qualities. This is a call for a more nonviolent world.

Housmans Queer Book Club is a new group that reads a wide range of LGBTQ fiction and non-fiction. We meet every second Thursday of the month from 7-8:30pm. All genders are welcome, as are any snacks, drinks and book suggestions you can bring along too. 12. Self-Care as an Act of Warfare: A Black Women's Reading Group
Held the third Thursday of month. The group is free to attend. Group members get a 20% discount if they choose to buy the upcoming book from the shop. The event is open to all women (trans, intersex and cis) of Black African and Caribbean descent. Black non-binary, agender or gender variant people who feel they can contribute to and benefit from attending are welcome.
