Against Bauxite Mining in Jamaica
Following our resolution at the last Branch meeting, UCU London Region passed a resolution on the subject to be sent to the TUC London East and South East Environmental Sustainability and Just Transition Network. This led to a meeting with representatives of the London Hazards Centre and London Mining Network from London as well as the Jamaica Environment Trust and Caribbean Labour Solidarity from Jamaica. The mining company concerned has offices in London, so we are discussing a campaign here. More details as the emerge, but more details of the devastating effect of bauxite mining here....
