The strength of feeling over Gaza is bursting into every area of society. The Tory peer Baroness Warsi has announced her resignation from the government over its policy on Gaza, and a number of MPs are calling for the recall of parliament to discuss the issue. This is something we will be demanding on Saturday's demonstration for Gaza.
There are already divisions within the main parties, with Ed Miliband coming out strongly critical of David Cameron, and Nick Clegg calling for a ceasefire. There is little doubt that these moves reflect the strength of public opinion and the effect of lobbying on MPs.

It is vital that we build Saturday's demo as big and broad as possible. We are receivingdetails of transport from around the country, there is a high level of activity over BDS, including this week's commitment from the National Union of Students to support it in a major turnaround. In addition there is a lot of interest in protests and meetings: on Monday organisers say 160 people packed a Hackney meeting called at a few days notice, and there are many planned this week, for example in Tower Hamlets, Finsbury Park, Luton, and protests in Nottingham, Newcastle and elsewhere.

So upset is Kaiser Syed, aged 8, by what is going on in Gaza, he decided to raise money to help end the war.  He made fishtail elastic band bracelets and has been selling them.  So far he has raised £50 for Stop the War's Gaza Appeal.
