The People's Assembly Against Austerity: Week of Action - Doctors Strikes & National demo



We have a very busy week of campaigning and action coming up this week! This is a turning point in the campaign for the NHS, in the campaign to save social housing and in building for a mass demonstration on 16 AprilMarch for Health, Homes, Jobs and Education.

Tuesday 8 March:

London Activists Meeting 6:30pm, Mabledon Place, 4 Mabledon Pl, Kings Cross, London WC1H 9BB.

Support the Strikes, Promote the April 16 Demo. We'll be planning actions, events and more for the demonstration and discussing how we practically support the doctors strikes. Flyers, posters and other material will be available for you to collect at the event. Please come along if you can and help us spread the word by inviting your friends to the Facebook Event and sharing as widely as you can!

Wednesday 9 March:

Junior Doctors Strikes
After work 'Meet the Doctors' rally, 5:30pm @ BBC HQ, Portland Place, London W1A 1AA (Nearest Tube: Oxford Circus)
The BMA are starting their second round of industrial action against Jeremy Hunt's unfair and unsafe Junior Doctors Contract, which was set to be imposed without further negotiation. This will the first of three planned dates where doctors will walk out for 48 hrs at a time. Pickets will be set up at Hospitals all round the country - please get down and support your nearest. In London The BMA are organising 'Meet the Doctors' events across London. The final meeting point will be outside the BBC HQ where a short rally will also take place. Wednesday 9 March 5:30pm outside the BBC Broadcasting House. Speakers include: Vanessa Redgrave, Yannis Gourtsoyannis, Christine Blower (Nation Union of Teachers), Anthony Johnson (Student Nurse, Save our Bursaries Campaign) & more...

Friday 11 March:

NHS Re-Instatement Bill Day of Action

The National Health Service Bill 2015-16 will have its second reading in Parliament, tabled by Green MP, Caroline Lucas. The petition in support of the Bill will be submitted at 9:45am at Richmond House, Whitehall. A Rally will be held at 11:00am outside Parliament in support of the bill. Saturday 12 March:

Hit the streets, day of action

On Saturday we are going to be hitting the high streets throughout the capital to promote and spread the word about the march for Health, Homes, Jobs & Education. Details of which will be discussed and decided on at the activists meeting tomorrow and announced after. If you can help out on a high street near you please emailtom@thepeoplesassembly.org.uk

Sunday 13 March:

12pm, Demonstration: Kill The Housing Bill

The march assembles at 12 noon on Sunday 13 March at Lincoln’s Inn Fields, WC2A 3TL. More info nation can be found on our website HERE.

7:30pm #JC4PM Comedy Night at Fairfield Hall in Croydon. Tickets and info are still available HERE.

Performers / speakers include: Charlotte Church, Jeremy Hardy, Francesca Martinez, Sam Fairbairn, Len McCluskey & more. The organisers of this fantastic event are promoting the national demonstration on 16 April.
