This morning at
6.35am my darling husband Noel Lynch passed away. We were together for 9 years and
we'd hoped to have many more. This photo shows how happy we were together. We
might have seemed like opposites, but our relationship was very special. A true
union of hearts and minds. Noel appeared a quiet man at first meeting but once
you got to know him you couldn't stop him talking. You'd also discover a man of
passion and commitment to his friends and to his beloved Green Party. He spent
his last days dictating emails to be sent to Green Party associates thanking
them for their work, but we only got a third of the way through his address
book. If he didn't get round to thanking you, I'd like to say thank you on his
behalf, especially to the people who supported him in his attempts to get re-elected
to the London Assembly. Noel leaves a massive void in the lives of myself, his
daughter Michelle and family, and his family back in Ireland. They've all been
so welcoming to me as his wife. I hope that some of you can join us when covid
abates and when it's appropriate to arrange celebrations of Noel's life in
London and Ireland.

News today that my long-term friend and political ally @noellynchlondon has died. We spoke on Friday, and I had planned to visit him this week. He was for many years Chair of the London #Greenparty and a former #MLA A former auctioneer he was an avid collector and ran a bric a brac #shop at #GrandparadeN12 which he also campaigned to save from demolition. He was active in #Barnet local politics and Chair of the local Green Party for many years. A proud Irishman from Co #Limerick he read the #Limerickleader until his death. He was active in the Green Party Trade Union Group and the Green Seniors. Noel ran himself ragged for many years visiting local Green parties throughout London and encouraging new members. He was also compassionate and during the #pandemic and before his shop became a focal point for #homeless people receiving support. He campaigned on a wide range of environmental and #socialjustice issues and never spared himself. He will be missed by many as an authentic campaigner and man of the people

THE GREEN ROOM (for Noel Lynch)
This shop is
so full of miscellaneous things,
Unassorted and
assorted, that,
Its customers can
barely enter,
And they must
shuffle along,
Its narrow
corridors sideways,
Canyoned in by
incredible merchandise
Hung from all
available walls,
And stacked
ceiling-high.
An inventory of its
stock would be
An epic in itself,
including:
Desiccated dinosaur
turds,
And Rubber hot
water bottles,
Fashioned to
resemble infamous politicians,
Giant butterflies
in varnished collectors’ cases
Piles of football
programmes,
Unique coins, and
fossilised fish.
Texts in every
language known on this planet,
Portraits of
Macedonian aristocrats,
Necklaces fashioned
from polished bones,
Texts in languages
not known on this planet,
And several pairs
of boots…,
And in one corner,
The shop’s owner
presides,
Like a benign
dragon in a second-hand suit.
A druid of the
discarded,
A trading spider
spinning a web of contacts,
Linking, deals,
politics, culture and commerce
With invisible
threads
Cemented by endless
anecdotes,
Joining everyone
together with shared humanity
Working to make all
our worlds better.

Noel was a longtime
friend and I have just put it out on the web. I spoke to him only a
couple of days ago. Other friends and I were speaking to him most days. He was
making me laugh to the end.
I told him I
bought a toy pony for my grandchild, and he missed out the toy bit. We
were laughing at that and the idea of me having a pony in my little
flat!!
His wife let me
know this morning.
When was last in
London I stayed with them. I am grateful for staying with them as I had some
long chats with Noel. Fortunately, I also did recently. He was very
generous as a politician and more so as a friend. I’ll miss meeting up with him
when I am in London. He is a real loss to many for all sorts of different
reasons. RIP

Oh, my goodness! I
only just spoke with him on Sunday.
This is the passing of a great and true gentleman, the like of whom I've
rarely met or will likely meet again. What a sad loss for us
all.

Noel was a stalwart supporter of Green Left and a friend and comrade since
I joined in 2006.

As you will know,
Noel was Co-Chair of Green Party Seniors, and he was clear that he wanted to
remain in that role to the end. We were happy to oblige.
We only found out
recently the seriousness of Noel's condition but, even so, we thought he would
be with us for a little while longer. Noel has been a stalwart of the
Green Party in London for longer than most of us can remember. He will be
greatly missed.

Lynch, member of the London Assembly from May 2003 to June 2004 has sadly died.

We
are sorry to hear the sad news today of the death of Noel Lynch, who was the
fourth Green elected to the London Assembly. Standing on the list for the
London Assembly sometimes means jumping into the breach at short notice sometime
after an election. Noel stepped up to represent Londoners in 2003, taking a
full part in the work of the London Assembly until the May 2004 election.
In
just one year he was able to publish four reports – covering local shops,
plastic bags, the decline of public toilets and the need for green space. All
of these were topics where his focus was ahead of the agenda and, indeed we
continue working on these topics even now. His work behind the scenes since he
was an Assembly Member has been invaluable, and he was a friendly face for many
people new to green politics. He will be much missed.

outlast him, and he will be missed.

Dear Green left comrades,
Really sad news, I had a message from him in my messenger from beginning
of July, that I thought I had replied but it did not go out for a Wi-Fi connection
issue.
I have, like all of you, great memories of him, from my years In
the Green London federation. He had been always the best humankind that you
could meet. People like him in politics, are absolutely necessary. We will miss
him deeply; it is a great lost. He was the kindness and the goodness in
person. As we say in Spanish: “Que la tierra le sea leve” or in Latin “Sit tibi
terra levis”.

I forward the below for interest of GPTU Group. The branch concerned -- Worcestershire -- is my nearest active branch of Unite Community, and I attend its branch meetings while there is no active branch in Herefordshire yet.
You and Noel have been great mainstays of GPTU, and while a London Fed member I overheard once talking to a new couple of London Greens in a disparaging way about the validity of GPTU meetings in terms of size, you and Noel were there for people. Noel welcomed me into the Green Party when I joined in 2014.
He also arranged for me to speak to new members from across London on the
subject of annual Land Value Tax. My wife, Heather and I attended his wedding
to Diane (and I was happy to act as his wedding day "chauffeur" in my
classic car). We will miss you Comrade!
