PCS members working in the Royal Parks, employed by Just Ask Services, are taking further strike action

Strike dates are 16 – 30 August incl.

There will be a rally outside the Royal Parks HQ in Hyde park – Monday 16 August at 9.30 am.

The leaflet attached has all the relevant information.

The public toilets and play areas in the Royal Parks are looked after and cleaned by a company called Just Ask Services. This company works on a contract let by the Royal Parks. The great majority of staff are members of the PCS union and also of the UVW union. Staff working for the Royal Parks get paid and are looked after much better than Just Ask staff.

This two tier work force has to end. Just Ask staff want to be treated with the same dignity and in the same way as staff working directly for the Royal Parks. In particular they want proper sick pay and they want guarantees of future employment. At the moment if staff go sick, they get no money for the first few days and then afterwards they are only paid the legal minimum. Staff in the Royal Parks by contrast get full pay from their first day of being ill. PCS union members working for Just Ask want to be treated the same. Just Ask on the orders of the Royal Park is looking to make a third of them redundant and making the rest cover all the extra work by moving them from Park to Park. PCS union members working for Just Ask just want to keep their jobs.

Following a PCS union strike on Friday 30 July, workers are now going on strike between 16 to 30 August to achieve their demands.
